using 6.2+patch

I have an application that when someone joins my non dolphin site as a new member they are automatically enrolled in our Dolphin site at the same time. I am doing a direct write to the dolphin database profiles table amd the Tags table. I do have a problem with the Dolphin member password. It is a hash and I want to use the same password in the dolphin site that the new member entered on the non dolphin site. Does anyone know the specific dolphin file/script that does the md5 hash or the md5 hash/salt scheme used in dolphin.

The only other issue I have found is that if I do a member search/browse the members that are put in this way do not show up in the search. They do show up on the home page in the new members box. I checked the database inside out and when a new member is added through the regular "join" page only 2 tables have additional entries, Profiles & Tags. So the question is what else is changed and where. Any ideas ?
